Felecia L. Dawson, MD, ABOG
Cannabis Advocate, Educator, Consultant
Holistic Gynecology/Functional Medicine
Biography
Dr. Dawson has practiced holistic obstetrics and gynecology, as well as integrative and functional medicine for over 30 years. She was acknowledged by Essence Magazine as one of the leading female obstetrician gynecologists in the nation.
After four years of practicing with a friend and colleague, Dr. Dawson founded her own medical practice, Women for Women. She served there as Medical Director, 1994-2016. Thanks to Dr. Sanjay Gupta and his WEED documentary in 2013, Dr. Dawson came to learn that cannabis is medicine…something she was not taught in medical school. Having become disenchanted with the direction that medicine was taking in the U.S., she closed Women for Women in December 2016 to focus on advocating, educating and consulting on medical cannabis full-time. She completed The Medical Cannabis Institute’s certification in 2018. She is the first physician in Georgia to join the Society of Cannabis Clinicians. This organization was founded by, Dr. Tod Mikuriya, the grandfather of the medical cannabis movement in the United States. She works with multiple grass root organizations to decriminalize this amazing plant that has been used for millennia by humans as food, medicine, fiber and more.
In 2020, Dr. Dawson co-founded P.L.A.N.T.S. for Lyfe. The acronym stands for plant-based lifestyle and ancient nutritional treatment strategies. It is an educational platform that combines holistic medicine and botanicals including cannabis. Dr. Dawson co-authored Why We DIE, How To LIVE with Marilyn Pierce, RN and Oskii Chevanier, Jamaican Herbalist in 2024. It is the first evidence-based guide of its kind, blending holistic healing practices—such as meditation, acupuncture, reiki and botanicals including cannabis—to tackle America’s top 10 causes of death.
Currently, Dr. Dawson offers online educational consultations regarding holistic gynecology, medical cannabis and CBD. She is available for public speaking.
Her community service includes volunteering with and supporting the Center for Food Safety, Partnership Against Domestic Violence, Cool Girls Inc., The Sierra Club.
